Several Nights Ago...

I reported to work and had to wait in a small room. The room was familiar but did not belong to the actual building that I work in. A few work colleagues were sitting there, reading newspapers and drinking coffee & tea.
After a while, I realised that I recognised the room, and it appeared to be a small room at the back of a church or a social club. The lights would alternately dim and flicker as if the bulbs were dying.
A horse was running and stopping and running. I could only see its hooves. Something kept blocking it from running away.
Ste, one of my colleagues laughed at the fact that I was on the late shift and he was going home. He went to a ‘window’ in the wall I hadn’t noticed before and grabbed a plate of chips & beans.
I recalled a conversation from a few moments ago. I was told to prepare and get ready. I was holding a small toothpaste tube. It was white and blank. I walked to a window and started to apply the paste to the windows. I remembered someone telling me to cover all windows and cracks. Carefully I went about the room. The ‘window’ to the kitchen/cafĂ© was no longer there.
The horse kept running. It was neighing in panic. A herd of bulls surrounded it. A bull with large vicious horns was chasing the horse. The horse was agile as a gazelle.
I finished applying the paste and looked around. I was in my auntie’s front room. Outside the window I watched the bulls gore the horse….
